Customs officials are now on the look out for Goa’s Education Minister Babush Monserrate’s son Rohit who proceeded to Dubai even as his father was called off the flight at Mumbai on Saturday.
According to reports published is the media in Mumbai, Customs suspect that Rohit also carried excess currency with him which he managed to slip past the screenings at the airport.
The report further states that Customs officials suspect a hawala racket in this case.
Although Babush claims that the money found on his can be accounted for, the report claims that Customs officials have said that the money is unaccounted.
Besides, Customs officials were quoted saying that Babush was carrying 75,000 UAE Dirhams and the travelers’ cheques for 25,000 USD had expired.
