Kolhapur/Ratnagiri: The powerful cyclone Tauktae severely damaged the power supply infrastructure in Ratnagiri as it passed off the Konkan coastline.
It disrupted the electricity flow to more than 3,600 villages collectively inhabited by 18.42 lakh people.
Around 13,000 workforce of the state-run MSEDCL are engaged in repair and restoration of the snapped lines.
A total of 138 MSEDCL sub-stations took a hard hit due to the cyclone effects. Of them, 78 have been restored while work on others is still underway.
Rough condition and winds with speed 65-85 kmph will prevail at the Arabian Sea for next two days, predicted the IMD.
Hence, fishermen have been advised to stay away from sea, it added.
