Former Minister and Goa Cricket Association President Dayanand Narvekar was called in for questioning by the Goa Police over the issue of his son Ganeshraj having two birth certificates.
Police Inspector Rajesh Kumar revealed that Dayanand Narvekar and his wife Sushma were both questioned on this matter.
It may be recalled that former GCA Executive Committee member Dr Shekhar Salkar had lodged a complaint against Dayanand for forging his son’s birth certificate in order to allow him to participate in under-15 cricket tournaments even though he had crossed the age.
Dr Salkar had alleged that after playing twice in the under-15 tournament, Dayanand’s son Ganeshraj was allowed to play for a third name based on a second birth certificate which not only showed a different date and place of birth but also had a different name.
While in the original birth certificate the name is recorded as Ganeshraj in the other one it is recorded as Anish which is his pet name.
Police said the investigations are in the initial stages.
