In yet another day light robbery at Ponda on Sunday afternoon, unknown persons decamped with gold ornaments worth Rs 83,000 from a residence at Ambegal.
According to Ponda police the house of Prakash Ulhas Naik at Ambegal-Patantali-Kavlem was broken into when he had gone with his family for the temple festival at Khandepar. The Naiks left their house at around 11 am and returned at 3.30 pm to find something amiss.
When they entered their bedroom, they were shocked to find the cupboard open and all their gold ornaments missing.
The missing gold ornaments include two chains, two bracelets and two rings costing around Rs 83,000. Fortunately most of the gold worth around Rs 5,00,000/- was saved as Mrs. Naik had worn it for the festival.
Soon after noticing the burglary, Prakash lodged a complaint at Ponda police station. Police suspect that either a child or a midget is involved in the crime, given the fact that entry into the house was effected by cutting a small portion of the window grill.
