Decline in COVID-19 cases in UT in past 24 hours, no fatalities reported

Puducherry: The fresh Coronavirus cases considerably came down in the Union Territory with 42 COVID-19 cases registered and no fatalities reported since the last 24 hours, ending at 10 AM, on Monday.

Hundred COVID-19 cases and two deaths registered on Sunday.

With this, the infection tally rose to 1,19,745 and death toll to 1,778 in the UT.

According to the Covid-19 status released by the health department here, of the 5,243 swab sample tests conducted yesterday, 42 persons tested positive.

As many as 36 new cases were reported in Puducherry region, three in Karaikal region, two in Yanam region and one in Mahe region.

About 125 persons were discharged in the last 24 hours and 103 of them were from Puducherry region, 15 from Karaikal region, two from Yanam region and five from Mahe region.

Presently, 136 patients are being treated in hospitals in Puducherry region, 22 in Karaikal region, nine in Yanam region and 16 in Mahe region. Another, 858 persons tested positive for COVID and taking treatment in home isolation in all the four regions of the Union Territory.

So far 1,19,745 persons were infected by Corona virus and of which 1,16,926 patients were treated and discharged, 1,778 people died and there are 1,041 active cases now.

As far as the Paediatric Covid cases are concerned, seven children were admitted to the Government Medical college as on Monday. Six of them are confirmed positive cases while one under observation is the child of a Covid positive mother. Four of them are less than five years of age and two above five years.

The test positivity rate in the UT stood at 0.80 per cent, the case fatality rate is 1.48 per cent and recovery rate is 97.65 per cent.

As many as 6,39,181 persons including healthcare workers, frontline workers and general pubic were so far given COVID vaccine in the Union Territory.
