Deshprabhu files anticipatory bail

Pre-empting the moves of the BJP-led government in the state to have him arrested on allegations of illegal mining, Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC), spokesperson, Jitendra Deshprabhu has through his lawyers already filed for an anticipatory bail at the North Goa Sessions Court, yesterday.

The government in its move to go after the culprits of illegal mining in Goa, has zeroed down on Congressman Deshprabhu as its first target, because according to the Chief Minister, Manohar Parrikar and the team of the Directorate of Mines and Geology (DMG), a case like Deshprabhu is a classic case of illegal mining in Goa, since he allegedly extracted and sold ore, without taking any clearances from state or central authorities. An FIR has been registered by the DMG with the Goa Crime Branch.

Deshprabhu however denies that he has been involved in any illegal mining and that he is being made a political victim because he has been exposing the corruption and double-speak of the BJP government in particular its Chief Minister.
