DGP Arya had official clearance for Gokharna trip

Contrary to claims made by Advocate Aires Rodrigues and games being played by the Chief Secretary of the Government of Goa, Sanjay Srivastava, Principal secretary B Vijayan had given former state DGP Aditya Arya a written statement that he, in his capacity as acting chief secretary, had given Arya permission to travel to Gokharna in Karnataka in his official vehicle on October 16.

The incident that saw the government initiate an inquiry against the DGP and an official memorandum issued to government officials allotted vehicles, backs Arya’s earlier statement that he had received oral permission for the trip.

Vijayan’s letter to Arya, dated December 28, states, “I hereby confirm that you had contacted me on October 15 on phone; requesting for permission to go to Gokharna (Karnataka) on October 16. I had granted permission to you to go to Gokharna on October 16, in my capacity as acting chief secretary.”

It further states, “This letter maybe treated as written approval for your official tour to Gokharna, Karnataka, and permission to take staff car outside the state.”
