Director General of Police Bhim Sain Bassi who has been transferred to Delhi, praised Goa Police as being one of the best police force in the country, at his last media briefing on Tuesday.
He specifically praised the Bomb Disposal Squad for its efficiency in defusing the explosive device during the Narkasur completion in 2009 and said the bomb blast at Margao that year, was the greatest challenge he faced in Goa.
Establishing the Quick Response Team with available resources, motorcycle patrols named Robins, intensive training and a well equipped Central Police Control Room which will be commissioned shortly, as some of the improvements in the police force.
He also revealed that the forensic laboratory would be launched by next month end and added that it would help in solving major crimes like murder.
He dismissed charges of Goa not being safe for people specially women and pointed out that women move around feely even after midnight at Tito’s in Calangute and even in Anjuna.
