DGP To Inquire Into CBI Assaulting ANC Policeman

Director General of Police (DGP) Aditya Arya on Thursday said that he will initiate inquiry into the allegations of constables of the anti-narcotics cell (ANC) being beaten up by the CBI while probing policemen-drug peddlers nexus case.

Arya informed that once he is back in town, he will summon all the constables who have complained of being beaten by CBI during the inquiry.

The constables attached to the Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) have complained that a senior CBI officer had beaten them up on Tuesday in the interrogation room after they were summoned for recording their statement in the case, as a part of the investigation.

Arya said that he will personally meet the constables to find out what exactly happened with them in CBI custody.

ANC Constable Mahadev Naik has lodged a complaint with Agassaim police about the assault on him. Arya said that he had no information about the police complaint being filed by the constables.

The CBI is inquiring into the alleged drug nexus involving eight policemen and Israeli drug dealers — David Driham alias Dudu and Yaniv Benaim alias Atala. The case was first investigated by the Crime Branch and later handed over to the CBI.
