Diverting of oxygen plants for Kashmir to Jammu daylight robbery, alleges PDP

Srinagar: People Democratic Party (PDP) on Monday said that diverting oxygen plants earmarked for Kashmir to Jammu by the administration was a daylight robbery.

The PDP was reacting to a report published in a national English daily that five oxygen plants for Kashmir valley have been diverted to Jammu.

Taking to micro blogging site Twitter PDP on official handle of the party said “ Shameful that despite Jammu being represented by a Minister in GOI it is in such a bad shape that administration has to resort to daylight robbery of supplies earmarked for Kashmir”.

The newspaper report said that “As Jammu division has witnessed a surge in Covid-related deaths in the past three weeks, five oxygen plants meant for Kashmir hospitals have been diverted to Jammu.

Meanwhile, two former Chief Ministers Mehbooba Mufti and Omar Abdullah are re-tweeting tweets of dozens of places requesting for Oxygen, concentrators and medicine.

The Kashmir valley recorded 2451 corona positive cases and 28 deaths on Sunday.

However, Union Territory (UT) Jammu and Kashmir administration have time and again said that there is no shortage of oxygen, medicine and other equipment to deal with the second wave of COVID-19.

The administration has also extended the corona curfew, which was to end this morning at 0700 hrs till next Monday 0700 hrs. However, essentials, including vegetable vendors were allowed to function from 0600 hrs to 1000 hrs after properly following Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) and other guidelines.
