DMG files complaint against Deshprabhu on illegal mining

The Directorate of Mines and Geology (DMG) through its Director, Prasanna Acharya has filed a police complaint against Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) spokesperson Jitendra Deshprabhu for allegedly being involved in illegal mining activity estimated to be around Rs 50 crore.

Sources in the DMG have told GoaChronicle.com that Deshprabhu case has been a classic case of illegal mining; wherein allegedly iron-ore was extracted and meant to be exported without having any mining license or requisite permission for either the State authorities or Central Ministries. This step of the government is towards ensuring that illegal mining activities and the perpetrators will be taken to task.

However. Deshprabhu opines that these steps taken by the Parrikar-led government is aimed at trying to silence his voice and stand against the corruption he has been exposing of the BJP government in the state and that he is being made a victim of political vendetta.
