According to the official, currently the SAG has a staff strength of 650 employees. And that according to the official is a criminal waste of tax-payers money since the maximum requirement should not exceed 200 personnel, given the scope of work currently at the SAG.
When questioned on why the employees were appointed if there was no need, he revealed that they were appointed by the then Director of SAG VM Prabhudessai and the current in-charge Elvis Gomes is working towards ensuring an optimum employee-to-work ratio.
The official also mentioned that staff such as the Lower Divisional Clerk (LDC) are not even competent enough to perform their duties like drafting an official letter or utilising the computer applications. But were appointed for the job on account of voter appeasement. Most times, some of the staff do not even attend work, therefore now the new director SAG has introduced the bio-metric attendance system to keep a check on the erring staff.
