Dr. Shekar Salkar on Saturday demanded the arrest of Dayanand Narvekar and his wife for forging documents with regards to the birth certificate of their son Ganeshraj alias Anish.
Pointing out that a common man would have been immediately put behind bars for a similar offence, he demanded that the Narvekars be immediately arrested and expressed fears that the investigations in the case may be manipulated by using political pressure.
Dr. Salkar disclosed that he had lodged the complaint with the Mapusa Police on 7th November and the case was registered only on 24th November and that too only after he threatened to move the courts. “This indicates the kind of pressure Dayanand is exerting on the police,” he said.
He demanded that the investigations be transferred to the Crime Branch or a special investigation team headed by an officer of the rank of Superintendent of Police so that justice prevails.
It may be recalled that Dr. Salkar had complained to the police that Dayanand Narvekar and his wife had registered the birth of their son Ganeshraj at two different places – Pilerne Panchayat and Mapusa – showing two different dates of birth.
Using the second birth certificate which reduced the age by nearly nine months, Dayanand permitted his son to play at national tournaments thereby depriving a truly deserving Goan the opportunity.
