Praises were heaped and his work was remembered at the function organized by Goa Chamber of Commerce and Industry to felicitated former union minister and present NRI Commissioner Eduardo Faleiro on his 70th birthday on Tuesday.
Doing the honours, Union Minister for Roads Kamal Nath recalled his warm relationship with Eduardo that was cultivated over cups of tea in the Parliament. Kamal Nath reminded those gathered of Eduardo’s diplomatic abilities that helped win Brazil over during the Earth Summit.
Chief Minister Digambar Kamat lauded Eduardo for introducing loan melas in Goa when he was the union minister of state for finance and added that his government’s scheme of providing loans to flower vendors was inspired by those loan melas.
The efforts put in by Eduardo to get back the gold pledged by Goans to the Banco Nacional Ultramarin that was lying in the coffers of the bank since Goa’s liberation, back to its rightful owners was also remembers besides the zeal with which he followed by the cause of compensation for Goans affected during the first Gulf war.
