New Delhi: As many as 81.42 pc of fresh coronavirus cases (89,129) recorded on Saturday are concentrated in Maharashtra,Karnataka, Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Madhya Pradesh.
India on Saturday saw 89,129 new cases of COVID-19 and 714 fatalities during the during the past 24 hours, pushing the caseload to 1,23,92,260, and death toll to 1,64,110.
Maharashtra has reported the highest daily new cases at 47,913. It is followed by Karnataka with 4,991 while Chhattisgarh reported 4,174 new cases, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said in a statement on Saturday.
Country’s total Active Caseload has reached 6,58,909, 5.32 per cent of the country’s total positive cases.
A net incline of 44,213 cases has been recorded from the total active caseload in the last 24 hours.
Maharashtra, Karnataka, Chhattisgarh, Kerala and Punjab cumulatively account for 77.3 per cent of the total active cases in the country. Maharashtra alone accounts for nearly 59.36 pre cent of the total active caseload of the country.
In the past 24 hours, 44,202 people recovered from the the contagion, taking the total recovery count to 1,15,69,241, which is 93.36 per cent of the case tally. The fatality rate stood at 1.32 per cent.
