Aurangabad/Mumbai: Maharashtra Leader of Opposition Devendra Fadnavis on Wednesday demanded that journalists, photographers and camera persons across the state should be declared frontline workers and should also be vaccinated on priority basis.
Mr Fadnavis penned a letter in this regards to Chief Minister Thackeray and posted on his tweeter account which stated that at least 12 states of country already annouced the journalist as frontline workers but still in our state why the state government mum of this issue.
Numbers of senior journalists from different organisations are continuously demanding for it aslo they held online protests in this regard.
In the first wave of Covid numbers of journalists were lost their lives and infected due to the pandemic and same situation too emerged in second wave of corona,he said.
He further stated that,in this Covid situation journalists are playing vital role by gathering news by visiting personally to hospitals, crematorium and affected persons. In such situation numbers of journalists were infected and succumbed also and asked why the state government is silent on this issue.
As media is fourth pillar of democracy were working in such corona crisis by collecting news visit on the spot abd facing lot of inconvenience .
Hence, I urged to urgently declare them as front line workers like health,police among others departments, he added.
It may noted that over 100 journalist were died in the state due to corona.
