After blocking the main road leading to Chandrawado, residents of Fatorda served a two-month deadline on the authorities to rid their area of the illegal scrapyards.

Margao Town police immediately rushed to the scene where heated discussions were held between them and the residents.
Fatorda Development Committee president Camilo Baretto disclosed that they had brought asked the South Goa Collector to crack down on the illegal scrap yards and regretted that the authorities have not taken any action till date.
The illegal scrap yards in the area grabbed attention recently following the death of a labourer at one such scrap yard following an explosion of a tanker that was being cut.
