Faulty structure coupled with lack of proper security is enabling people to break from Sada sub-jail, according to a report submitted by Additional Collector Prasanna Acharya who was asked to enquire into the August 4 jailbreak wherein two convicts and one undertrial fled from the jail.
It is learnt that Mr. Acharya has pointed out that the construction was not designed keeping in mind that it would be a jail as a result of which structural requirements to deter people from fleeing from the premises were not incorporated.
Besides, he is reported to have observed that more security is required at the jail to avoid repetitions of jail breaks. Mr. Acharya is learnt to have recommended two security rings and further recommended outsourcing one ring to private security agency in case of lack of manpower.
It may be recalled that while police nabbed the undertial Abhijit Patil who fled from the jail on August 4, the other two convicts Hitler Fernandes and Seby Ferrao, are still at large.
