FDA Seizes Adulterated Tea Leaves

The Food and Drugs Administration has seized a huge consignment of tea leaves found to be adulterated and is presently probing two major tea leaves manufacturing companies, one from Kolkata and the other from Assam since the leaves were packed at their plants.
According to FDA Director Salim Veljee, 18 bags of 5-kg packing of Kolkata based Ruby brand and 520 bags of Assam based Sona brand were confiscated by his department officials after they were found to be adulterated.

The consignment was seized from a godown in Usgao belonging to a Karnataka based businessman.
