Despite requests from South Goa District Collector Sandeep Jacques, Fatorda Development Committee (FDC) is all set to go ahead with Fatorda Bandh on Sunday to protest against Government’s failure in moving illegal scrap yards from the area.
The Fatorda Development Committee had given a deadline of two months to shift the scarp yards. A delegation led by Camilo met Jacques on Friday to find out what action the government has taken. Jacques also told Camilo not to go ahead with the bandh as the government was in line of solving the problem.
Pointing out that bandh is not the solution to this problem; Jacques said that he will personally find out from Industries department about the trade zones for rehabilitation of scrap yards.
However, Camilo, said the Committee will not back out and go ahead with the bandh.
