Festival of Holi celebrated with traditional fervour and enthusiasm in UP amid Covid-19 precautions

Lucknow, Mar 10 (GCCurrentAffairs) Holi, the festival of colours is being celebrated in Uttar Pradesh today with traditional fevor and gaiety though the revellers are taking all precautions due to the threat posed by Covid-19.
However, most of the ‘Holi Milan’ programmes of the political parties and their leaders have been cancelled due to the Coronavirus threat.
In several areas people were seen playing Holi while wearing masks and several avoided embracing each other.

The festival is being celebrated in a peaceful manner and no untoward incident was reported anywhere confirmed Director General of Police H C Awasthi here on Tuesday.

UP governor Anandiben Patel and Chief minister Yogi Adityanath have wished the people of the state on the festival .

CM Yogi is in Gorakhpur where he performed ‘puja’ at the Gorakhnath temple this morning and exchanged greetings with the people.
Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav along with his entire family including his father Mulayam Singh Yadav were in their native Saifai in Etawah district to celebrate the festival.

In Lucknow a special Holi procession was brought out in the old Chowk area where politicians and others joined to celebrate the festival.

The celebration of the festival started last evening with Holika dahan and people started playing holi
