File FIR against Parrikar: Tamankar

Sudip Tamankar, based on whose complaint, the anti-corruption branch of vigilance department filed FIRs against two former Congress chief ministers and others on Monday, has demanded that the department file FIRs in all his 30 odd complaints against illegal mining in Goa.

Briefing the media on Tuesday, Tamankar said that this particular complaint had also named Manohar Parrikar as responsible for mining irregularities in 2002 and demanded that Parrikar’s name be added in the FIR, failing which, he would appeal to the appropriate authorities to get this corrected.

Tamankar was speaking as secretary of the all Goa private bus owners’ association, in which capacity he had filed the complaints in 2011. Tamankar is presently, also a Congress spokesperson.

He said he had filed about 35 complaints against various persons and wondered why an FIR was filed in only one complaint. Wondering why Parrikar was not named in the FIR, Tamankar accused vigilance director Amarsen Rane and vigilance SP Bosco George of “favouring” Parrikar.

Tamankar said that if they do not correct themselves, he would move the appropriate authorities against them.
