Goan filmmakers have come of age as three films by Goans including two women, have been selected for the International Film Festival of India 2010’s Short Film Center (SFC).
While the women’s films will be competing in the ‘Environment Section’ the third film has been selected for the ‘International Section’.
Rajashree Bandodkar Karapurkar’s nine-minute-long film titled Visit to Bondla is produced by the Forest Department, Government of Goa showcases the Bondla wildlife sanctuary.
The second Goan film to compete in the Environment Section is Nalini Elvino de Souza’s 23-minute long film on water harvesting. This documentary style film seeks to find solutions to living a water stress free life.
Ramprasad Adpaikar’s Sin which is of 20 minutes duration is based on psychic behavior of a person haunted by his past will be third Goan film competing at this festival.
SFC this year will have 10 films competing in the Environment Section and 20 films in the International Section. The International section jury is headed by noted Indian director Gautam Ghose and has Russian actress Oxana Federova, French producer Patrick Jorge, actress Cardona and founder of London Film Academy Daisy Gili as members.
The Environment section that will be adjudged by a jury having environment documentary film maker and Green Oscar winner Naresh Bedi as its chairman and UN wildlife conservation consultant Romulus Whitaker, Helmut Groschup and Innsbruck as jury members.
