Lucknow: An FIR has been registered against Urdu poet and Sahitya Academy award winner Munnawar Rana for giving inflammatory statement supporting the murders in France and glorifying chopping the head of a human for hurting religious sentiments.
The poet, in an interview to a Hindi news channel, allegedly defended the murders that have sent shockwaves across the world.
“If someone makes such obscene cartoons about my father, about my mother then I will kill him. If in India someone makes such a cartoon about any God or Goddess, or Sita and Lord Ram, which is obscene, unfortunate and objectionable, and that leads to vulgarity, then I feel like I will kill that person,” Mr Rana had purportedly said.
Rana further supported the murder of the teacher in France and had blamed the European country of insulting Prophet.According to police sources here on Monday, the Urdu poet was booked under section 153A, 295A, 298,505(1)(b), 505(2) of the IPC and section 67 and 66 of the IT act.
