First Session of 17th Assembly begins, Ministers and MLAs take oath

Patna: Pro-tem Speaker of newly constituted 17th Assembly Jeetan Ram Manjhi today administered an oath to a newly elected MLAs including Ministers on the first day of its five-day session today.

Manjhi administered the oath to newly elected MLAs and Ministers in the first half of its session. Newly elected MLAs would also take oath in the second half of its sitting and tomorrow.

Among those who were administered oath are– Deputy Chief Ministers Tarkishore Prasad and Renu Devi, Water Resources Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, Energy Minister Bijendra Prasad Yadav, Transport Minister Sheila Mandal, Agriculture Minister Amrendra Pratap Singh, Revenue and Land Reforms Minister Ram Surat Rai. Former Minister and MLA from Jhanjharpur seat Nitish Mishra and other MLAs from Mithila region took oath in Maithili. AIMIM MLA Akhtarul Imam took oath in Urdu while Chetan Anand took oath in English.

Election of Speaker would be held on November 25 while Governor Fagu Chauhan would address a joint sitting of Bihar Assembly and Bihar Legislative Council on November 26.

The government would reply to debate on thanks motion to Governor for his address on November 27, the last day of the session.
