Five accused of murder of two temple priests in Auraiya arrested

Auraiya, Aug 19 (UNI) Five accused of murder of two priests in temple premises in Kunderkot area, were arrested here on Sunday.

Superintendent of police Nageshwar Singh here said that some criminals had brutally murdered two priests in temple of Kunderkot village in Bidhuna area on Tuesday night. In attack priests Lajja Ram Yadav and Harbhajan were died while one another priest Ramsaran was severely injured.

Singh said that after investigations five persons Salman, Nadeeem, Shahjat, Majnu alias Naz and Jabbar were arrested while manhunt was on to nab other accused. He said that reason behind murder of priests was oppose of cow slaughter. Priests informed police many times about cow slaughter incidents.

Three country-made pistols, one knife and looted cash Rs 1688 was recovered from arrested accused, SP said adding that seven teams were formed to nab the criminals and five of them were arrested while others will be arrested soon.

Panic was triggered in the area after double-murder incident following which villagers had protested against police administration and jammed the traffic at roads. SP had suspended Bidhuna police station in-charge Akhilesh Mishra and constable Islam after the incident.
