Five Constables Arrested For Planting Drugs on Accused

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested five constables of Goa Police for allegedly planting drugs on David Driham alias Dudu, an Israeli national during his arrest in 2010.

Those arrested include Hirmayya Gurayya, Mahabaleshwar Sawant, Naguesh Parsekar, Sameer Varkhandkar and Mahadev Naik who were attached to the Anti Narcotics Cell (ANC) in 2010 when Dudu was nabbed from Anjuna village. During that period, the ANC was headed by Police Sub-Inspector Sunil Guddlar who is already under judicial custody in the same offence.

Based on the statement given by Guddlar during his interrogation, the constables were arrested.

While confirming the arrests, Superintendent of Police (CBI) S S Gavli informed that they have arrested five constables and refused to divulge more details of the case.

Dudu had claimed that he was “falsely implicated” in the case. The arrest had a new twist when Dudu’s girlfriend and his sister caught Guddlar on camera while demanding bribe for his release. The tapes of the ‘sting operation’ carried out by the two women were aired by local media on 4th January 2011. The investigation was later handed over to the CBI which initially had arrested Guddlar.
