Floral tributes paid to Ambedkar on his death Anniversary


Aurangabad, Maharashtra, Dec 6 (GCCurrentAffairs) Floral tributes were paid by the followers of Bharat Ratna Babasaheb Ambedkar’s on his 63rd death Anniversary in eight districts of Marathwada region of Maharashtra on Friday.

Since morning people from Dalit community were paying floral tributes to their leader at their respective places, reports said.

In Aurangbad city, all the Dalit organisations, political outfits, leaders from various political parties and Dalit community paid their homage to the statue of Dr Ambedkar at Bhadakal gates chowk.

On this occasion several programmes were organised in the city by the various orgnisations including blood donation, padyatra, eye checkup camps, candle dhamma rally, sapling plantation and distribution of food.

A rally was organised by Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University (BMAU) to pay homage to him.

Most of the followers of Dr Ambedkar from the region were already left for Mumbai last nights to visit at ‘Chaitya Bhoomi’ at Dadar to pay homage.

Meanwhile, on backdrop of Babri demolition day and recent Supreme Court verdict, a thick blanket of security has been deployed across the region to avert any untoward incident, police said.
