The SMC has already made wearing masks in public places mandatory from January Ist, 2021. Violators will face a fine of Rs 200 to Rs 500 within the Municipal limits, the warning said.
Taking to micro blogging site Twitter Mattu said, “All New Years celebration events in #Srinagar are advised to follow all COVID advisories and guidelines strictly”.
“Any hotel or establishment found in violation of COVID guidelines will face appropriate action under law”, he said in the tweet.
After the discovery of new variant of SARS-CoV-2 the SMC has made wearing masks in the public place mandatory, saying a fine of Rs 200 to Rs 500 will be recovered from the violators within the Municipality limits from January 1, 2021.
Mattu said that anyone found without face masks within SMC limits would be fined from tomorrow as
Srinagar was the worst affected due to COVID-19. “ We are taking measures to prevent the new variant of virus in Srinagar for which wearing masks have been made mandatory, he said adding that the corporation will begin the drive from its employees and those found without masks will be dealt as per the set rules.
Mattu said the fine that will be collected from violators will be used only for COVID purposes for which the SMC administration has already been directed to come up with a separate plan.
The SMC has established 35 enforcement teams to act against the violators.
