Adv Aires had filed a complaint in the Panjim police station against the DGP accusing him of cheating the State exchequer by going on a personal visit to Gokarna in Karnataka in his official vehicle on 16th October.
Adv Aires had complained stating that the IPS officer’s act amounts to cheating, which is punishable under section 420 of the IPC. He had also accused Arya of misusing his official position and cheating the state, the allegations being dismissed by the DGP.
Meanwhile, admitting to having visited Gokarna, the DGP claimed that he did so with a ‘purpose’ and had obtained verbal permission from the state government before travelling outside the State in his official car.
Stating that Aires is a social activist and he can say whatever he likes, Arya said that the inquiry is already being conducted by chief secretary and let it get over.
“When DGP moves he moves with the purpose. Why I went there is not a thing of public consumption,” the DGP said refusing to elaborate further.
