Just a day after Home Minister Ravi Naik claimed that there was no drug mafia operating in Goa and that the state has been cleansed of this menace Goa Police arrested one Nigerian and one native of Uttar Pradesh for possessing drugs.
Calangute Police arrested Asanesuna Obighalia, a Nigerian residing at Saligao and found on him drugs worth around Rs 1.50 lakh.
Acting on a tip off, the police laid a trap for the Nigerian and arrested him along the Porba Vaddo-Calangute road and recovered 30 grams of cocaine from him besides cash amounting to Rs 48,560. Interestingly, the police also recovered a weighing scale from him.
In the other incident, Dharmadev Rajbhar from Uttar Pradesh was arrested at Candolim by the Anti-Narcotics Cell of Goa Police and recovered 1.5 kg ganja and 130 gms charas from him.
Dharmadev was reportedly waiting for his customer near the Shantadurga Temple at Candolim when he was arrested. Police also recovered Rs 5,000 from him while the narcotics seized from him are estimated to be worth around Rs 28,000/-
