Hyderabad: The sleuths of Cyber Crime Police Station, Cyberabad have arrested four persons for duping 2,500 people to the tune of more than Rs 7 crore in the name of online investment/marketing.
Police seized four cell phones, one laptop, one SIM card, two four-wheelers and land documents worth Rs 58 lakh from their possession.
Based on a complaint, police arrested Nanda Kishore of Narsipatnam, Chittam Reddy Anand of Visakhapatnam, Bhumireddy Avinash, of Vishakapatnam and Tulluri Srinivas Rao of Vishakapatnam for the offence, a police release here said on Monday.
A complaint was lodged by an Assistant Engineer in TSSPDCL of Manikonda on October one and stated that he saw an advertisement about Stemcor Max Hedge app and website www.stemcormaxhedge.com in Google and contacted the mobile numbers +44-1474770338, +44-13222522443 who briefed about the app for online marketing where customer invests the amount and on his investment, the company will refund 5 per cent of the money as commission every day up to 60 working days and if the customer joins any other customer he will get 10 per cent commission on his investment.
This conversation occurred through mail ID firstname.lastname@example.org and WhatsApp. On believing their words, the complainant invested an amount of Rs 1.6 lakh through their website from his Andhra Bank account in different days from September 6 to 14.
Then the complainant received Rs 15,320 as commission and the remaining amount and profits were defrauded by the culprits as promised by them. On that, the complainant tried to contact them through the website, mobile app and WhatsApp but they did not respond and he filed a complaint to take action accordingly.
