Panjim/New York, Sept 27 (GCNews): Removal from the ministerial post has disturbed Former Deputy Chief Minister of Goa and BJP’s Christian face Francis D’Souza who has now threatened to quit the BJP.
Chief Minister of Goa Manohar Parrikar and BJP National President Amit Shah to a decision to drop the senior BJP leader due to his persistent illness.
When GoaChronicle.com had spoken to the visibly upset BJP leader, he expressed, “This is what I get for 20-yrs of my loyalty to the party, that I was not even taken into confidence or informed about a decision to remove me is being taken by BJP at the Centre and state.”
D’Souza plans to resign from the party’s core committee. “This is a fight about my self-respect,” D’Souza asserted.
“I will resign from the Goa BJP Unit’s Core Committee once I am back on October 15th. I don’t want anything from the party in the future. Even if I am offered any position, I will not take up any government position. It is about my self respect. If you do not have self-respect, you do not have anything,” expressed.
On being asked if he would quit as an MLA from the Mapusa constituency, D’Souza stated, “I have been elected by my voters for five years, so there is no question of resigning as a legislator. If I resign, I would be disrespecting my voters.”
Directing his ire at the Goa CM, D’Souza, stated that contrary to Parrikar’s reasoning that BJP High Command decided on his removal, I know it was Parrikar’s decision. “Nobody can interfere in the chief minister’s right. There is no role of the party high command in my dismissal from the cabinet. Parrikar is known to not take advice from anyone, including the party high command.”
