Panaji, Mar 5 (GCCurrentAffairs) Friday Balcao, fortnightly discussion event to be held on March 8, will focus on the issues faced by women senior citizens in Goa.
According to Friday Balcao Co-ordinator Roland Martins, the discussion is being held to observe International Women’s Day.
‘Many women senior citizens are facing issues of mental health, crime prevention, nutritional needs, loneliness, financial literacy, isolation etc. Many of these issues need to be addressed by Govt and non Govt agencies in a concerted manner. How can the UMEED day care centers in the villages and towns respond to the issues faced by women senior citizens ? How can women police personnel be sensitized about these issues ? What guidance can be provided by the Goa State Commission for Women ? What role can be played by the Department of Social Welfare to address these issues ? How can the volunteer committees in Police Stations be of assistance ? What kind of programs can be organised by Colleges & NGO’s to address these issues ? These are some of the questions that will be covered in the discussion,’ Mr Martins said.
