The car occupants were identified as Ashok Kumar of Mahilpur and Kamaljit Singh of Balachaur.
SSP Navjot Singh Mahal said Wednesday while patrolling in the area of village Chak Rountan, a police team, signalled to stop aforesaid Indigo car for checking. Instead of stopping the vehicle, the car driver speeded up.
After a brief chase, police intercepted the car and seized 290 injections (Buperenorphine Leegesic), 410 injections (Buperenorphine Rexogesic) and 650 Injections (Avil Pharamine) from a secret compartment made in backside of the car.
He said instructions had been issued to all officers regarding maintenance of night curfew from 2200 hours to 0500 hours and strict action against the violators. As many as 12 cases had been registered for defying curfew in various police stations during Tuesday night.
The car occupants were booked under sections 22(c), 61 and 55 of the NDPS Act.
