In a swift and much needed action to a GoaChronicle.com Expose ‘Porn Sites Promoting Goa as Sex Destination Continues’, Congress Leader Vishwajit Rane has petitioned the Union Ministry of Information & Broadcasting (I & B) to conduct investigations into the origin of these pornographic websites promoting Goa as a sex and sleaze destination and to block these websites from spreading a negative image of Goa’s tourism potential.

Speaking to GoaChronicle.com in a telephonic conversation Rane expressed that in the recently concluded Goa Assembly Session he wanted to have a ‘calling attention’ motion on the issue of pornographic websites promoting Goa as a sex destination, but instead I was ask to speak on this issue during demands on the Home Ministry. Online information is global. These pornographic websites are viewed by many in the global online space. It portrays Goa and its people (especially our women) in a bad light.

“Goa forms an integral part of the Incredible India tourism campaign and India’s global tourism image. Such websites are spreading a negative image of Goa’s tourism and culture. Therefore I decided to write to the Centre demanding an investigation and a block of these pornographic websites,” further elucidated Rane.

The recent United Nations Office for Drug & Crime (UNODC) has indicated the surge of online sites promoting sex and also fostering human trafficking in India and in particular Goa, which was highlighted in the GoaChronicle.com expose, from a mere 6 to 7 websites 18 months ago, our team have been able to track details of close to twenty-four such websites whose content and images showcase Goa as a destination of sex and sleaze.
