GFA Polls: Dempo Wins Presidentship, Loses Panel

Although Srinivas Dempo won the elections as President of Goa Football “Association, the panel floated by him was not as successful as only seven of his panelists were elected to the 16 executive committee posts.
When the results were declared, Srinivas Dempo won by a very slender margin of eight votes having polled 85 votes against the 78 polled by Peter Vaz.
In another setback to him, both the vice presidents elected – Elvis Gomes from South Goa and B Rebello from North Goa – were candidates supported by Peter Vaz.
As for the other Executive Committee members it was fifty:fifty with Srinivas’ panel winning seven of the 14 posts and the remaining going to Peter Vaz’ panel.
In Salcete, Schubert Furtado, Benjamin D’Silva, Anthony Pango and Bishut Temudo were elected with the last two being candidates supported by Peter Vaz.

In Mormugao, Savio Messias who withdrew from the race for president to support Peter Vaz was successful while Lourenco Gomes and Prakash Naik elected from this taluka were supported by Srinivas.
In North in Bardez Taluka, Babli Manzxrekar and Alidio Lobo supported by Peter Vaz were victorious along with Uday Lingutkar and Gajanan Kerkar from Srinivas’ panel.
In Ilhas, Velvin Menezes and Anju Albuqurque supported by Peter Vaz along with Sanjiv Narvekar from Srinivas’ panel emerged victorious.
