Goa Institute of Management (GIM), one of the premier B-Schools in India, hosted its annual convocation ceremony for the Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management (PGDBM) batch 2009-11 at Kala Academy.
During the ceremony, the students turned professional managers received the coveted diploma after completing 22 months of academically packed rigorous training with exposure to live industrial projects.
The convocation began with a report on the institute’s performance highlighting the achievements of the institute during the last academic year. Goa Institute of Management has done exceedingly well, as compared to other B-schools around the country. Last year’s exemplary placement scenario despite the economic downturn gave way to yet another exceptionally good placement season with the average salary increasing by 24% this year to Rs 8.85 lakh per annum, while the highest annual salary saw an impressive 47% increase amounting to Rs18 lakh per annum which was bagged by five students. By achieving this, the students of GIM proved that they are one of the best in B-schools with as much as 15% students getting pre-placement offers based on their summer internship.
Former Union Minister for industry, Energy, Environment and Forests Suesh Prabhu, who eas the chief guest, awarded students with their diplomas and some special awards of merit.
Best academic performance award was given to Akhil Uday Kamat, medal for recognition in extra-curricular activities was awarded to Prem Sharma and Nitin C received the award for the best student of the year.
