Global body ECA extends support to AICF in fight for justice in Mary Rajasekaran sexual harassment case

Seattle: The Ending Clergy Abuse (ECA) Global Justice Project has extended their full support to All India Christian Forum (AICF) in their fight for justice for Mary Rajasekaran who is a victim of sexual harassment at workplace. The workplace is the Loyola College in Chennai and the accused is a Catholic priest Father Xavier Alphonse.

In a letter to the founding member of AICF R Joseph Kennedy, ECA Board of Directors have stated, “It is shocking that the Catholic institution refrained the victim from complaining to the local authorities about her sexual harassment case. Even more disturbing that no investigation was done by the institution over her sexual harassment complaint even though it is mandatory as per Indian laws.”

“We strongly urge the courts in India to allow access to courts to Mary Rajasekaran to pursue justice in this matter,” the letter stated.

“We are pleased that AICF whose founding members Savio Rodrigues and R Joseph Kennedy are members of ECA are leading this fight for justice in India,” it further asserted.

ECA is an international association of activists and survivors of clergy abuse from 20-plus countries and 6-continents dedicated to fighting clergy abuse in the Catholic Church.
