The Global Goans Convention will be held in Kuwait this year on 16th and 17th November with the Indian Embassy playing a major role in organizing the same, disclosed Commissioner for NRI Affairs Eduardo Faleiro.
Briefing media persons on Wednesday morning, he justified the venue on grounds that there is a sizeable Goan community working in Kuwait.
While ‘Vishwa Konkani Samelan’ a cultural programme celebrating Konkani culture which will be held on 17th November, will be highlight of the convention various other sessions including talks by eminent persons will also be held.
An ‘Open House’ will also be held tentatively on 16th November which is aimed particularly for the skilled and unskilled Goans working overseas. “It is these people who need their problems to be resolved and that is why we have this programme,” said Eduardo Faleiro.
The Indian Ambassador along with officials of the Indian Embassy will participate in the ‘Open House’ where Goans and even Indians, will be permitted to disclose their problems which will be resolved there and there.
Efforts are on to get the Protector General of Immigrants to attend the conventions, said Eduardo Faleiro adding that in case he cannot come then some other senior official from the Indian government will be present.
