Panjim: Goa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) on Monday welcomed the announcements made in the budget presented by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in the Parliament.
Addressing a press conference in the city, GCCI Vice President Ralph De Souza said there were lot of promises in various sectors.
”Principally the promises are in the ease of doing business and creation of human capital. Direct taxation remains the same but there is some relief. We have got deficit budget again and it will continue till 2024. Its well balanced budget,” he said.
However, GCCI Tourism Committee Chairman Jack Sukhija said there was not much for tourism sector in the budget.
”Only 25 per cent hotels are open. There are no international tourists. Tourism industry expected more. Hotels should have been given industry status,” he said.
