Panjim: Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Tuesday accused opposition MLAs of indulging in ‘inappropriate’ and ‘unparliamentary’ actions towards Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari in the state assembly on January 25, 2021.
In a tweet, the Chief Minister said,’On the first day of the Assembly session, we saw inappropriate & unparliamentary actions of the opposition benches towards the Hon. Governor Shri Bhagat Singh Koshyari ji. The opposition should introspect &uphold the democratic values, & also work in the interest of the people.’
However, reacting to the Chief Minister’s statement Leader of Opposition Digambar Kamat said government must listen to emotions, sentiments and aspirations of the people.
In a tweet, Mr Kamat said,’Government must listen to Emotions, Sentiments & Aspirations of the People & the Duty of the Opposition is to be the Voice of the People. Some Actions come as a Reaction. Let Government show the courage to face the Opposition at Length in Assembly without adopting to Shortcuts.’
The opposition had protested against the government for calling a curtailed session off the state assembly.
They attended the assembly wearing black ribbons on their arms and showed posters.
