Panjim: The Chief Minister of Goa has asked the Cabinet Ministers of its alliance partner Goa Forward Party (GFP) to resign to accommodate ministers from the BJP state-leadership.
The GFP led by Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai extended support to the Manohar Parrikar to form the BJP-led government in 2017. Even after the demise of Parrikar, GFP continued to extend support as an alliance member to BJP.
The decision of the CM of Goa comes after the shocking move of 10 Congress MLAs forming 2/3 of the majority of the Congress Legislature Party of the Goa Assembly were inducted into the BJP party in Goa on the approval of BJP Party President Amit Shah.
The step of BJP against GFP MLAs is to accommodate the MLAs who have joined BJP namely Chandrakant (Babu) Kavlekar and Atanasio (Babush) Monseratte.
Interestingly GFP supremo Sardesai held the Deputy CM position in the Goa government.
