Panjim: From the time of speaking on national television channels a few months ago when Goa was a Green Zone state, to being detected with COVID-19, the Chief Minister of Goa Dr. Pramod Sawant is fighting a personal and a professional battle with the coronavirus pandemic.
He took to social media platform this morning to announce that he will be undergoing a quarantine on being detected with COVID-19. He posted, “I wish to inform all that I have been detected COVID19 positive. I am asymptomatic and hence have opted for home isolation. I shall continue to discharge my duties working from home. Those who have come in my close contact are advised to take the necessary precautions.”
From having seven cases recovered cases in the Green Zone status period to now reporting over 18,000 cases of which, over 4000 are active, 14000 have recovered and 194 have succumbed to the virus, Goa is seeing an unprecedented surge in COVID-19 cases. In fact, over 1 percent of the population of Goa has contracted COVID-19.
The government has recently made entry into the state possible without any COVID-19 related travel restrictions. One no longer needs to get tested for COVID-19 on arrival. Also, there is no need to provide a negative certificate or isolate yourself either. There will be no restrictions on interstate travel as well, and hence an e-pass to drive to the state will no longer be necessary. This was announced by Goa chief minister Pramod Sawant.
In a tweet, Goa Airport said, “As per announcements by the Govt of Goa restrictions on interstate travel have been removed in line with guidelines of Govt of India. No more Covid19 -ve report and no more test requirements for Domestic travelers.”
