Goa CM Kamat resigns after Congress humiliating defeat
Goa Chief Minister Digambar Kamat on Tuesday resigned following the humiliating defeat of Congress in the assembly election. BJP has won 21 seats while MGP has won 3 taking their tally to 24 seats. With including the BJP supported independents the tally goes up to 26 seats.
“I accept the verdict of the people and we are ready to sit in the opposition,” Kamat said.
The BJP-MGP coalition, which has won 24 seats in the 40-member House, is all set to form the government with Manohar Parrikar to be the likely Chief Ministerial candidates.
