Panjim: In a move to provide security and comfort to the women in all walks of life, Goa Police Department launched women’s Helpline Whatsapp number (7875756177) which was inaugurated by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant at Police Headquarters in the city.
Women Helpline aims to provide all-time security and comfort for the womenfolk and achieve zero crime against women in the State.
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, speaking on the occasion, congratulated Goa Police for commencing the Whatsapp helpline facility. He said women helpline would be significant in delivering smooth service to women in distress and ensuring the welfare of the women at a larger end.
The Chief Minister also insisted to circulate the Helpline number to women at a larger scale through media, social media, railway stations, Airport and other concerned Government institutions so that Helpline facility reaches to women who were looking for help.
The helpline launching was followed by another event of handing over of advanced life support ambulance for Goa Police. Union Minister of State for Defence and AYUSH Shripad Naik handed over the ambulance to Chief Minister for the use of Goa Police. The Ambulance was provided as a medical CSR initiative by Goa Shipyard Limited, a Public Sector Unit of Ministry of Defence.
Minister of State for Defence Shripad Naik, in his address, lauded the efforts taken by Goa Police to contain COVID-19 pandemic in the state. He said the medically well-equipped ambulance would help Goa Police to deliver medical service during emergencies.
Naik said Defence Ministry also intended to provide a bus equipped with instruments or machinery for Cancer detection to Goa Medical College. The bus would be made available by BEL, Bangalore, he added.
Director-General of Police Mukesh Kumar Meena, IPS, informed that Whatsapp Helpline number would help women send more information to police for better handling of the case.
