Goa CM welcomes cut in MPs’ salary, suspension of MPLAD funds

Panjim: Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has welcomed the decision of the Centre to cut 30 per cent in the salaries of Members of Parliament (MPs) and temporary suspension of Member of Parliament Local Aread Development Funds.

In a tweet, the Chief Minister said, ‘Welcome the decision of @narendramodi Govt of 30% cut in salaries of MPs and temporary suspension of MPLAD funds. This move will strengthen our efforts against #COVID19 and help us overcome this crisis.’

To reduce the government expenditure and contribute at the time of the economic crisis arising from the Coronavirus outbreak, the Centre on Monday had approved an ordinance to reduce the allowances and pensions of Parliamentarians by 30 per cent and suspended MPLAD funds for two years.
