Goa CM working to benefit crony capitalist friends of PM Modi: Chodankar

Panjim: Goa Congress President Girish Chodankar on Sunday alleged that the deliberate and intentional darkness of Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Prakash Jawdekar on Goa’s lifeline Mhadei and various environmental issues like destruction to Mollem Wildlife Sanctuary, Opposition to converting Goa into a Coal Hub to benefit Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Crony Club, Opposition by locals to IIT on cultivable land at Shel-Melaulim, issues faced by Mapusa Farmers has once again brought to light the “Defects of Chief Minister Pramod Sawant”.

Reacting to the refusal of answering media questions by Jawdekar on Mhadei and other environmental issues concerning Goa and passing the buck on Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, Chodankar said, ‘The guilt of betraying Goa was visible on the face of Prakash Jawdekar who was repeatedly wiping his nose and mouth out of nervousness during the press conference. It is disgusting to see Union Minister not carrying a handkerchief or tissue papers while in public during the COVID Pandemic times.’

The Congress leader said Chief Minister Pramod Sawant must release a White Paper with facts and figures on all the core issues, including Mhadei and other environmental issues, and make public what transpired during his meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi four days back.

‘We suspect that the Chief Minister was called to Delhi to forge some conspiracy to benefit either the neighboring Karnataka or Crony Capitalist friends of Narendra Modi. We have a strong feeling that visit of Union Minister Prakash Jawdekar was to divert attention from some larger conspiracy being worked out by Modi-Sawant for their political benefits,’ Chodankar alleged.

Union Minister who was on a so-called trip to convince farmers on the new Farm Laws did not dare to meet real farmers of Shel-Melauli, Mapusa, and Sugarcane Farmers of Goa and was left high and dry when few farmers raised questions about various schemes announced by PM Modi which had actually not reached to them, Chodankar said.
