Goa CM’s ‘PAs’ running govt, ordering ministers, MLAs: Girish Chodankar
Panaji, Dec 16 (GCCurrentaffairs) Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) President Girish Chodankar has alleged that personal assistants (PAs) of Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar were running the government and ordering elected MLAs and ministers, while imposing their decisions on them.
Speaking at the taluka-wise agitation ‘Jan Akrosh’ at Vasco in South Goa on Saturday, he alleged that, “The PAs of the unwell CM are signing crucial documents and making noting on the files claiming that ‘verbal approval of the CM’ has been taken. Even BJP Ministers are being taken for a ride by the PAs who do not have the constitutional right to take such decisions.”
Speaking on the occcasion, Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader Babu Kavlekar hit out at the BJP government in Goa for ‘trying to usurp the mandate of the people earlier and now reportedly trying to dissolve the assembly and hold re-polls in the State.’
Former state Chief Minister and currently MLA from Ponda Ravi Naik criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi, taking potshots at the promise of crediting every citizen’s account with Rs 15 lakh.
He said several poor people in his constituency of Ponda had made plans to re-build their houses and even made designs and blueprints of their new dwellings in the hope that each of them would get the promised Rs 15 lakh.
Mahila Congress President Pratima Coutinho said the steep increase in prices of essential commodities, including LPG gas cylinders, was a huge burden on the poor and middle class citizens across the country.
Senior Congress leader M K Shaikh, GPCC Spokesperson Sanklap Amonkar, Municipal Councilor Saifulla Khan, activist Kenneth Silveira and several others were present on the occasion.
