Goa Congress is not splitting, BJP spreading rumours: Kavlekar

Leader of Opposition in Goa Legislative Assembly Chandrakant (Babu) Kavlekar on Monday rubbished the rumours that Congress party is going to split and the other group will support Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Government.

In a statement, he called the rumour as baseless and a defence politics.

“Ailing BJP Government is presently on ventilator as they are frightened because they know the coalation partners and their own MLAs are not happy with the government. BJP is spreading rumours to save their own government,” he claimed, adding messages which were floating on social media saying former Chief Minister Digambar Kamat, MLAs Filip Neri Rodrigues, Subhash Shirodkar and Tony Fernandez would split were all completely false.

He blamed BJP for spreading the fake news and creating confusion among the Goans.

“In Fact BJP Government is under threat to collapse on its own. BJP MLAs and coalition partners are not happy with them so it is very clear that, to put pressure on MLAs BJP is playing dirty tricks of defence politics,” he alleged.

Kavlekar said as many of the ministers and MLAs were sick there was increase in pressure from workers and MLAs for developmental projects as files were moving in lethargic way.

He confidently said his MLAs were strong, loyal and were with party. “All 16 of us are together and further journey will march together. From last one and half year, we have unitedly shown our strength in the Assembly House. We are together and will face BJP Government unitedly. All 16 MLAs are with party and I am confident that we will remain together,” he said.
